Keep looking up

In many of the towns you visit in the south of France you will find yourself in open squares lined with trees and narrow streets of medieval houses, and very pretty they are too. The distractions at ground level will keep you occupied, and it is easy to forget to spend a moment to look above you.
But it is here that much of the architectural interest and history of a place can best be seen.

So this post is short and sweet. Be sure to find the time to stand and look around you, but above all to look at what is above your head, missed by so many visitors.
Another advantage? You can photograph the upper levels of buildings without the picture featuring hundreds of other camera happy tourists!
